Why is this photo gallery software downloadable for free? Our goal was to create elemental WordPress plugin allowing to create photo galleries directly in posts with a few simple actions. We created it for ourselves, and after some time we decided just to public it.
RoboGallery plugin is intended to be used for easy and fast photo gallery creating right in your blog post using only web interface.
You won’t need to use FTP in order to upload your photos, what you need to do is to click on “
“. You’ll see the window where you can select photos from hard drive or some other online gallery and upload them to the server.
A gallery created with this photo gallery software contains all necessary elements for creating nice-looking posts. You can select main picture and place rest pictures right under it.
We prepared detailed manual allowing you easily to install and customize the plugin even if you’re a newbie with WordPress.

Using CSS styles you can create appropriate visual style for your gallery.
You can insert text between main image and small images. Also you can display only large image on main page and have full gallery available on post page by adding tag <more>.

In order to customize the plugin you need to go to Settings module, find RoboGallery there and click on it to go to our plugin settings page.

Let’s take a look at parameters in turn:
Uploading
Uploads folder (Store uploads in this folder) - Here you indicate the folder which will contain uploaded photos.
Create it beforehand and setup next access rule CHMOD 777.
Image size limitation (Resize images) - this field defines max picture size displayed in full value.
If you’d like to have pictures in your gallery less in size than original pictures you can setup this parameter. It will define max height or width of the pictures. RoboGallery will compress uploaded pictures and you’ll be able to save traffic value and to loading time of your gallery.
Leave this field empty and your photos will have original sizes.
Main Thumbnail - set a width of main thumbnail, usually it should be equal to width of your post template.
Small thubmnails width and height - setup width and height of small thumbnails located right under large thumbnail.
For instance: large thumbnail width is 450px, small thumb width is 150px, so there will be 3 small thumbs under large one. But keep in mind your visual style settings where margin between pictures can be defined.
Short Post -if you switch on this option then tag <!–more–> will appear after main thumbnail and the image will lead to your post as a link.
If some day you decide to switch off this option, then main thumbnail will start to lead to main pictures in earlier created posts but the link “Read full post –>” will remain.
No main image link - if you pick this option the main thumbnail won’t be linked with full image.
Images on separate pages - you’ll need to customize templates for pages then full images will be displayed on separate pages where you’ll be able to place ads or some menu elements for instance. The template file is /RoboGallery/template.php, here you can use all WordPress functions.
Place of a watermark - setup a place on images for watermark to be in.
Watermark on big thumbnail - once this option selected the watermark will be placed on main image. This can be used for branding purposes for instance.
Watermark image - watermark image file stored on the server.
For instance: wp-content/plugins/RoboGallery/watermark.png
Gallery creating is being performed in 4 major steps.
You go to create post page and click on button ““.

Once button clicked the window appears.

Here you choose the way of images uploading. From hard drive – click Choose Files.
Select files and click Start Upload, when uploading will be completed this will look like this.

Also you can upload files to the server from other online gallery resource entering URL in the field Gallery URL below.
Click on Next Step >> after this.
Here you should select what picture to be used for main thumbnail. To do this you should use radio buttons:

Two fields above pictures allow to give relevant names to pictures and assign alt= property to them.
With a click on Copy in all… you will automatically assign names and tags to all pictures. If you need unique values you can enter them in specific fields for each picture.

Using bottom field you can define folder name containing picture files
On this stage you can select a visible part of the main picture by dragging red square.
This useful feature helps to make your posts more attractive because you can cut most nice-looking part of main image to be displayed.

Below there are informal numbers. They show original size of the image and size of cutout part. Be careful if you want to get quality main picture cutout part, its size should be less than original size. In this case plugin won’t stretch the picture and blur effect won’t occur.
On this stage you can select appropriate instance from suggested thumbnails. Or you can select grey box in order to hide some picture in your gallery.

After this click on Finish button. Gallery or its code will appear in your post.
Then you can add text before or after <!–more–> tag, as you wish.
